Farming For The Future
Sproule Farms, a partnership of family members actively engaged in farming, began operation in 1993 in Grand Forks, ND. The Principals of Sproule Farms are proud of being involved in various aspects of farming all of their lives – whether it was being raised on a farm, working on a farm as youths or working in ag-related businesses as young professionals.
Our mission is to provide the best yields and profitable partnerships while using practices that maintain and improve the land for future generations. We use cutting edge technology to track our crops and assure that our returns are maximized. Our history of caring for our land is something that our friends, neighbors and partners recognize and appreciate about our business.
The Land We Farm
The Red River Valley, where we we farm, stretches 350 miles long and 50 miles wide from northeast North Dakota & northwest Minnesota into Manitoba. This region boasts some of the most fertile soil in the world. Formed from the receding banks of Lake Agassiz 12,000 years ago, sediment was deposited in our region creating a very unique and fertile topsoil. The soil matched with the climate in our region is ideal for growing a variety of crops including corn, sugar beets, beans, and wheat.
Once home to Bonanza Farms, the Red River Valley has been cultivated as early as 1812 when a small group of settlers began planting wheat. It wasn’t until 1871, when the railroad arrived to the Red River Valley providing means of transportation, did agriculture in the valley begin to boom. Today, the Red River Valley continues as a booming metropolis for agriculture. Advancements in equipment, technology, and agronomics have helped us hone our practices and preservation of this great land.
