Sproule Wins $5,000 For Northwood Fire Department and the GF Salvation Army

This year, the Monsanto Fund is providing twice the financial support to counties that have been declared natural disaters areas by the USDA.  Grand Forks was one such county, giving Sproule the opportunity to place two $2,500 donations.  Sproule selected the Northwood Fire Department and the Grand Forks Salvation Army.

Paul Sproule of Grand Forks has been selected as the winner in Grand Forks County for America’s Farmers Grow Communities™ – a program sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, which gives farmers the opportunity to win a $2500 donation to direct to their favorite local nonprofit organizations.

The purpose of Grow Communities™ is to recognize the vital role that America’s farmers play and to help them grow their communities by supporting local organizations that are important to them.

On Thursday morning, March 21st, Monsanto representative Brian Wischer presented a $2,500 check to

Perry Johnson, Chief of the Northwood Fire Department.  Johnson expressed his appreciation for the donation and stated that the department would be using the money to outfit the new fire department with gear.

Wischer also presented a $2,500 check to Bob Alderson, representing the Grand Forks Salvation Army, who said that with the growing need for help in Grand Forks, the donation is very welcomed and appreciated.

In 1,271 eligible counties in 39 states, more than 60,000 farmers across the country participated in the program this year.

America’s Farmers Grow Communities™ is sponsored by the Monsanto Fund to highlight the important contributions farmers make every day to our society and to help them positively impact their communities.  This program is part of the Monsanto Fund’s overall effort to support rural America.
